Journal #1: My Playlist, My Self

If I were to create a play list of songs important to me I would tell you that there are four songs that I wouldn't be able to live without in my life.

"Happy" by Parrell Williams

"Kung Fu Fighting" by Cee Lo Green
"Free to Be Me" by Francesca Bettistelli

"Dream" by Priscilla Ahn

The first song that comes to mind is the one song I wake up to every morning. In Despicable Me 2 the song "Happy" is played when one of the main characters is in love. This song is an upbeat song that can always get me dancing and will put me in a great mood. Karate is a major part of my life, especially as I was growing up. Anytime we had a karate class we would start the class listening to "Kung Fu Fighting." Another great song to express my feelings is the song "Free to Be Me." Free to be Me” is a song that would always express my feelings of how to express myself and reassuring me that I am not alone in anything that I do. By expressing my life and feelings towards the hardships through life, Francesca Bettistelli describes me perfectly through this song. The last song that is important to me is "Dream." "Dream" expresses my goals and dreams for myself and gave me hope is knowing my dreams could one day come true. Dreams are one thing I wouldn't be able to live without in my life and this song expressions that fact perfectly. These songs all express who I am today though none are similar to each other.

These songs show my childhood of karate and love of martial arts, they show my happy, smiley personality, and my big dreams throughout the life I've endured and experienced when it wasn't always easy. I believe these songs were for me to discover, so that I may have reminders of what is important to me in my everyday life. If someone sat down to listen to these four songs they would think I'm a serious and overall happy person, and though I am both of these things my play list lacks the funky, fun loving rhythm that I also need in my life. They would miss my love of dancing, goofing off and also miss my love of singing.

  1. I like that you can express yourself so clearly through these songs, you did a much better job than I could have thought up. I think the Kung Fu Fighting song is a classic and a fun song. Although I am a lover not a fighter.

  2. I found it interesting how literal you were with your song selections. Your song choices reflect your fun personality and I like that!
