It was a quiet cold morning when a howl was heard across the library of UWSP. Three freshmen girls, alarmed by the sound of a lost dog, approached the situation to figure out what was going on. When they reached the library, they found a crowd of other students but Stevie was no where to be found. Clues were handed out by the distressed Stevie Pointer fan club. Everyone wanted to find him but the three girls were determined and had good intentions of finding Stevie before any of the other groups.
Once the girls found the 5th clue, they sprint to the 5th floor. Once they reached the floor they notice cages and screeching sounds of a monkey. They search and search but can’t find the screeching. They then think to check the Animal Biochemistry section thinking the hostage would be there if it truly was an animal. The cages near the section did have a hostage monkey that gave them another letter of “H”. Making it to their final clue, they run into other groups rushing just like them.

Racing through the front doors, the girls first clue led them to the second floor in the newspaper section. As they were searching for clues, they discovered a picture that read “Free the bound periodicals” which they read to the information desk to get help deciphering the code. The women working at the desk gave them their first letter, “E”, to help solve the mystery of where Stevie could be hidden.
Rushing to their next clue on the first floor, the girls found a shark with a paw print note that led them through the museum to bird eggs. Searching through the display of eggs for the next clue, the girls found some unwanted competitors who were running ahead to be the first one’s to find Stevie. The bird egg clue was another paw print which gave the girls another letter for the puzzle, “A”.
Clue number three led them to the reference room on the 1st floor where they were to find an encyclopedia about dogs, since this was Stevie’s favorite section in the whole library. In the dog encyclopedia they needed to find the page number of Stevie’s family pictures and repeat it to the Reference Librarian in order to gain the next letter to the puzzle. Searching frantically through the book the girls finally discovered the family picture. After placing the book back where they found it they raced to the Reference Librarian, adding the letter “V” to their growing list of clues.
After leaving the third floor, the girls were approached by a student who had been at the library at the time of Stevie’s disappearance. The student was a little distressed, but was able to give a description of Stevie’s kidnapper. They said that he resembles a famous comedian actor that they had seen in an old time movie once before. However, the student couldn’t quite remember what the actor’s name was. The girls took the student to the fourth floor to look in the section called Literature: The Theater in hopes of finding the comedian’s name. Sure enough, the student recognized the name of Charlie Chaplin. There were several books about him in a call number range PN 2287 C5. Tagged on the call number was another letter. The fourth letter the girls found was “C” because “C” is the first initial of both of the actors first and last name.

Once all the clues were found, the girls struggled to unscramble their mess of letters. After some confusion and deciding “IV Research” just couldn’t be the answer the girls realized the answer is “ARCHIVES”. They finally had the answer to where Stevie was! The girls charge to the Archives room on the 5th floor where they found their competitors standing confused. The girls pass them up knowing what they have to do. Taking a picture with Stevie Pointer the girls sighed in relief. After a long morning, the girls did it, they saved Stevie!
