42 is a movie of the life story of
Jackie Robinson and his history making baseball career. Through this
film we see Jackie Robinson sign on the baseball team of the Brooklyn
Dodgers with the help of Branch Ricky, the team executive of the
Dodgers. In the movie we see the racism that Jackie has to endure
during his life in the big leagues on and off the field. The racist
hostility towards Jackie and his family not only comes from the fans
but also from his teammates. The strength that Jackie and his family
had to have to not let the comments and jeers from people get to
them. They had to put up a front, not showing that the comments were
hurting and scaring them for life. The hostility that Jackie handled
with such a calm front is a calm that everyone should take as an
example.
